Day 37, Match 50, DC vs RCB Highlights, IPL 2023
BADSHAHBOOK: In a thrilling encounter between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Phil Salt's scintillating knock of 87 runs off 45 deliveries helped DC chase down a daunting target of 183/16.4 overs to defeat RCB by seven wickets. This was DC's fourth win of the season, which lifted them from the tenth spot to the ninth and kept them in the race for the playoffs.
DC's openers, Phil Salt and David Warner, provided a blazing start in the powerplay, adding 60 runs before Warner was dismissed. At the end of the powerplay, DC had reached 70/1 in the chase of 182.
Earlier, RCB's Virat Kohli achieved his 6th half-century of the season, whereas Mahipal Lomror notched up his maiden fifty to guide RCB to a battling total of 181/4. Kohli made 55 runs, while Lomror remained unbeaten on 54 runs off 29 deliveries.
After RCB lost Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell off successive deliveries with Mitchell Marsh landing the twin blows, Kohli and du Plessis led a solid start for RCB, taking the score to 79/0 in 10 overs. Though Kohli struck a four in each of the first three overs, Du Plessis opened up with a flurry of boundaries, and RCB made 51/0 in six overs.
RCB won the toss and elected to bat first against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. For DC, Mitchell Marsh and Mukesh Kumar were in, while Kedar Jadhav played his first game of the season for RCB.
DC had won three out of their last four matches, and their last win over Gujarat Titans, where they defended a low score in Ahmedabad, boosted their confidence. They performed it without their allrounder Mitchell Marsh, who showed a stupendous performance against the Sunrisers with a 4-wicket haul followed by an amazing fifty.

This was the second meeting between the two teams in IPL 2023.
RCB had set a target of 175 runs in the first encounter, but DC managed 151/9, with the hosts winning by 23 runs. DC's bowling coach, James Hopes, had stated before the match that they needed to control the run rate in the middle overs, as they knew that RCB's batting order was top-heavy.
If they could cause trouble early on, they could restrict RCB to a manageable score. DC will miss Anrich Nortje, who has flown home due to personal reasons, while RCB will hope their top-order fires in unison.
