BADSHAHBOOK: In a high-scoring IPL 2023 match at the Wankhede Stadium, the Mumbai Indians (MI) put on a spectacular display of batting prowess as they chased down the Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) imposing total of 199/6 with ease, winning the game by six wickets and surging to the third spot in the points table.
Suryakumar Yadav was the star of the show for MI, smashing a scintillating 83 off just 35 deliveries, including ten fours and five sixes, to notch up his third half-century of the season. Yadav was ably supported by Nehal Wadhera, who scored an unbeaten 52 and anchored the innings after MI lost two wickets in quick succession.
The duo stitched together a sensational 140-run partnership for the third wicket, propelling their team to the brink of victory before Yadav was dismissed.
Wanindu Hasaranga briefly threatened to derail MI's chase by taking two wickets in his first over, including that of the dangerous Ishan Kishan, who had scored a rapid-fire 42 off 21 balls. However, Wadhera held his nerve and guided MI home with some sensible strokeplay.
RCB had posted an imposing total of 199/6 thanks to some attacking batting from Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis. Maxwell smashed a blistering 68 off just 40 balls, while Du Plessis scored a sublime 65.
However, MI fought back strongly, taking three quick wickets after the duo had stitched together a century partnership for the third wicket.
