Day 52, Match 69, SRH vs MI Highlights, IPL 2023
BADSHAHBOOK: Cameron Green played a starring role in Mumbai Indians' commanding eight-wicket victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Green's unbeaten century, combined with a fine half-century from captain Rohit Sharma, propelled the team to successfully chase down a target of 201 in just 18 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad struck early in the Powerplay when Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Ishan Kishan, giving them an early breakthrough. However, Cameron Green's remarkable form sparked a scintillating recovery, taking the score to 60/1 in six overs while chasing 201. The partnership between Green and Rohit Sharma formed the backbone of Mumbai Indians' innings, as they stitched together a century stand that firmly placed them in control of the match.
Mayank Agarwal and Vivrant Sharma played exceptional innings, scoring impressive fifties to guide the Sunrisers Hyderabad to a competitive total of 200/5 in their allotted 20 overs. However, their innings lost momentum in the death overs, largely due to the brilliant bowling performance of Akash Madhwal, who finished with an impressive four-wicket haul.
Agarwal contributed 83 runs, while Vivrant Sharma showcased his talent with a noteworthy 69 in his debut IPL innings. Madhwal's crucial breakthroughs provided relief for the Mumbai Indians, dismissing both SRH openers and breaking their formidable 140-run partnership. He first accounted for Vivrant Sharma and later had Agarwal caught behind when he seemed poised for a century.
In the match, Mumbai Indians' captain Rohit Sharma elected to bowl first against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. MI made a single change to their lineup, bringing in Kumar Kartikeya in place of Hrithik Shokeen. On the other hand, SRH made several changes, omitting Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, and Abdul Samad, and including Vivrant Sharma, Sanvir Singh, and Umran Malik in the playing XI.
This marked the final double-header Sunday of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, where the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad clashed in a must-win contest. The five-time champions, MI, aimed to secure a playoff berth, while SRH, who were already out of the playoffs race, sought a victory with a significant margin. However, MI's qualification depended on the outcome of the last league game between RCB and GT. If MI were to lose to SRH, their prospects for advancement would appear bleak.

With four wins and two defeats, the Mumbai Indians had taken full advantage of their home ground throughout the tournament and aimed to extend their winning streak. They also had the opportunity to improve their Net Run Rate (NRR).
MI's major concern at their home ground had been their bowling, as they had consecutively conceded four totals in excess of 200 runs, and came close to conceding a fifth against RCB. This had put immense pressure on their batsmen to deliver.
On the other hand, with nothing to lose, the Sunrisers Hyderabad sought to end their campaign on a high note and replicate the positive aspects of their previous outing against RCB. Despite Heinrich Klaasen's brilliant century coming too late in the IPL season for SRH's liking, it showcased their batting potential. However, as a team, the 2016 champions lacked direction and firepower throughout the tournament.
