Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 50 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) Match 3 on Saturday. Delhi Capitals captain David Warner won the toss today and elected to bat first in the second leg of the IPL 2023 doubleheader on Saturday. Led by KL Rahul, the LSG team aimed for an even better season as compared to last year trying to make it to the playoffs.
The fact that they are playing at home will reassure LSG as they will get the support of the fans in Lucknow. Expect fans from the nearby towns of Prayagraj and Kanpur to flock to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. It goes without saying that IPL's newest franchise was under pressure even while playing at home as the expectations were huge.
DC, as well are playing IPL 2023 without having their regular captain Rishabh Pant who is yet to recover from the injuries sustained in his car accident. David Warner will replace him as leader and will be looking to get their campaign off to a good start.

Mark Wood played in his debut match for LSG
Trying to achieve a huge total, Delhi Capitals got off to a pretty nice start as new Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw (12) contributed an opening 41 with captain Warner but at the same time was dismissed during the power play. Shaw and the in-form Mitchell Marsh (0) were dismissed off consecutive deliveries by the England speed merchant. Wood's double strikes put Delhi Capitals on the back foot and the right-arm speedster - who was also playing his first match for LSG - grabbed a fifer. Wood - who was consistently clicking 140-plus in the match - finished with figures of 5 for 14 to ensure the Super Giants registered a clinical victory. He was even awarded man of the match for his amazing show.
Warner lone warrior for DC
Captain Warner did not find much support from the batsmen in the big chase, but the left-handed batsman from Australia moved up another half-century in the competition. Warner scored a 48-ball 56 and continued a lone battle for his team against a spirited Lucknow side that hardly did anything wrong. The DC franchise may have lost the game, but their gesture of hanging Rishabh Pant's jersey in the dugout was much appreciated. Pant - who is the designated captain of the Delhi-based franchise - is missing this edition as he recovers from injuries sustained in a car accident last year.
