BADSHAHBOOK: Playing in the home ground, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss against Rajasthan Royals in their Tata IPL 2023 opener.
Rajasthan Royals have started their IPL 2023 campaign in dominating fashion as they brushed aside the challenge of Sunrisers Hyderabad for a massive 72-run win on Sunday. SRH won the toss and put RR in. Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the two Royals openers, led a blazing start with the pair adding 85 runs in the Powerplay.
Buttler struck a quickfire half-century before departing while Jaiswal also scored a fifty. Both fell to Fazalhaq Farooqi. RR skipper Sanju Samson built on the platform built by his openers as he brought up a half-century of his own and RR finished with 203/5 in 20 overs.
Trent Boult then bowled a stunning first over as he knocked over Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in what was a double-wicket maiden over. Yuzvendra Chahal then ran through their middle-order, taking a four-wicket haul with SRH struggling to score runs.
A late cameo from Abdul Samad and Umran Malik gave some respectability to their final total as they finished with 131/8. Samad was their top-scorer with run-a-ball 32.
