Chennai Super Kings decided to bat first after winning the toss. Devon Conway, the talented batsman from New Zealand, played a magnificent innings of unbeaten 92, hitting 16 fours and a six in just 52 balls. His knock helped CSK to set a formidable target of 200 for 4.
In response, Punjab Kings started their innings confidently and managed to chase down the target on the last ball, reaching 201 for 6 in 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh was their top scorer with a quickfire 42 off just 24 balls.
Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone also made a useful contribution of 40. Tushar Deshpande, the bowler from CSK, was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/49, while Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets by conceding 32 runs.
CSK has been in great form this season, with their collective efforts and team spirit evident in their performances on the field. They are currently placed at the fourth spot on the points table after playing eight matches.
Despite facing a few injury crises, MS Dhoni has been able to find the best in his players. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shivam Dube have been performing consistently well for the side.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings have been struggling with inconsistency this season, with their batting and bowling failing to complement each other on several occasions.

The return of Shikhar Dhawan from injury in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants did not go as planned, as he was dismissed for just 1. Moreover, the bowlers leaked too many runs as LSG posted the second-highest score in IPL history - 257/5.
