Faf made 73 runs in 43 balls while Kohli finished unbeaten with a 49-ball 82. Before this, Tilak Verma rescued MI by scoring 84 runs in just 46-balls.
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium saw the triumphant return of IPL cricket with the home team securing an emphatic victory. Their stellar all-round performance saw the bowlers take wickets in the powerplay and the spinners keeping things tight. The flawless chase was also a sight to behold. Faf du Plessis proved he's still got it when he brought his SA20 form to the IPL, helping RCB secure a position so dominant they couldn't lose. And the star of the show, Virat Kohli is unforgettable. Playing with a smile on his face, he displayed his perfect timing and hit some of the most amazing sixes with ease. Although RCB lost a few wickets late on, Kohli hung on till the end to take his franchise home with almost four overs to spare.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli achieved fifties in the chase. Earlier young batsman Tilak Varma saved the day for MI as he smashed 84 off 46 balls to help his team to a total of 171 runs after 20 overs. RCB then needed 172 runs to win.
Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessiss hit half-centuries to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to an eight-wicket win over five-time champions Mumbai Indians in an IPL match here on Sunday. Kohli remained unbeaten on 82 runs off 49 balls, whereas du Plessis made 73 runs off 43 balls setting the platform chasing RCB achieved in just 16.2 overs.
Prior to this, Mumbai Indians drove on Tilak Varma's unbeaten half-century posting a competitive 171 for 7 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 84 runs off 46 balls and customised his knock having four sixes and nine boundaries helping MI post the total after getting in to bat.
Varma was the only bright spot in MI's batting department on Sunday. From RCB, spinner Karn Sharma captured two wickets and gave just 32 runs in his four overs.

Chasing the target of 172 runs, RCB's Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis dominated the game from the start. Although du Plessis got out in 15 overs, with Glen Maxwell's powerful hits, RCB won the match against MI by 8 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.MI, on the other hand, will be looking for a better show this season after two poor back-to-back seasons. After winning the title in 2020, MI failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2021 and 2022. With Jasprit Bumrah missing due to a back injury, Jofra Archer will be under immense pressure to deliver in his first season in Mumbai. All eyes will also be on Virat Kohli who has had a terrible IPL 2022.
