BADSHAHBOOK: Michael Bracewell would replace injured England batsman Will Jacks in the Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) team in the upcoming season 16 of Indian Premier League.
RCB have brought in New Zealand player Michael Bracewell as a replacement for the British batsman Will Jacks in the Indian Premier League 2023. Jacks, who was bought by the franchise for INR 3.2 million in the IPL 2023 auction, has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
It is a big loss for RCB as Jacks has been showing up as a player with whom Glenn Maxwell could be replaced in the playing eleven if needed. Jacks is a batsman who can mix it up off spin.
"RCB have signed Michael Bracewell from New Zealand as a replacement for England batsman Will Jacks for the upcoming TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023," said an IPL statement on Saturday.
"Jacks, who got ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 3.2 crore. His replacement, Bracewell, played 16 T20Is, scored 113 runs and picked up 21 wickets. He will join RCB at a base price of Rs 1 crore, ” the statement added.

Jacks played his England debut in all the three formats this year, and won his T20I and Test caps in Pakistan beforehand playing his first ODI in Bangladesh. The injury may also affect his chances of getting selected in England's ODI squad for the World Cup in India later this year.
The 24-year-old England batsman had to suffer a muscle injury during England's 2nd ODI with Bangladesh in Mirpur earlier this month. A scan earlier this week and a consultation with a specialist led to his retirement from the franchise league.

"RCB have signed New Zealand's Michael Bracewell as a replacement for England batsman Will Jacks for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023," read a statement on the IPL website on Saturday.
Jacks made his England debut in all three formats this year, winning his T20I and Test caps in Pakistan before playing his first ODI in Bangladesh.
Bracewell found no takers in the IPL auction after entering with a base price of Rs 1 crore. He has never played in the IPL.
RCB will begin their IPL 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians on April 2 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
